School Emblem S.M.G.S. stands for Saint Maria Goretti School of San Pedro. Under the abbreviated name of the school are the three (3) core values in Italian terms: Purezza, Fortitudo, and Pietà. At the bottom is the year of foundation, 2011 and the SMGS symbols at the center of the emblem.
The shield-like shape of the emblem represents Fortitude (Fortitudo) for it is in that gift of the Holy Spirit that one can instill and encourage habits of bravery; strength of mind to bear pain with the courage to reject sin.
The lily represents St. Maria Goretti herself. She is a model of Purity (Purezza). She possesses abundance of virtue, firmness of spirit, steadiness of will in doing good despite obstacles in man’s daily living.
The torch and the book signify another gift of the Holy Spirit, Piety (Pietá): the value of faith, humility, respect for obligations, devotedness to religion; devotion to God, family and studies.
The blue and red colors, as well as the blue ribbon wrapped around the torch symbolize the strong love and faith of St. Maria Goretti to God.
